Hi, I'm Dorothy. I joined the Tender Care staff in January of 2009 as a receptionist. My past experience includes working at a busy, four doctor animal clinic in eastern Wisconsin. My husband and I have two children and two grandchildren. We treasure family time together. We also have an energetic cat named Manny. He came to us as a stray and has been keeping us on our toes since we brought him home. My favorite pasttime is a quiet walk, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. I volunteer at Wyalusing State Park, monitoring the blue bird trail and caring for a native prairie planting. I enjoy animals and understand the special bond between clients and their pets. I'm happy to be part of the caring and highly qualified staff here at Tender Care and I look forward to assisting you with your pet care needs.

Hello, my name is Adam Heiring. I am the Kennel Supervisor here at Tender Care. I have been employed at Tender Care since 1998. My job consists of making sure your pet thinks they are on vacation! (A long walk, fresh water, food, clean bedding/environment and, of course, a little treat.) When I'm not at work, you'll see me walking my dog, Tipper or playing with my cats, Midnight and Echo. In closing, I would like to say, " I know it's hard to leave your loved one behind, but rest assured, we at Tender Care truly do care for your pet!"

Hi, I am Alexis Burns. I have worked part-time for Tender Care since it opened in 1996. I work on Saturday mornings and weekends to help provide a happy, fun and healthy environment for your boarding pets. I am originally from the Chicago area and moved to Prairie du Chien over 25 years ago. My pet family is now my Maine coon cat (Molly), and my Border Collie (Gem). I have enjoyed training Gem in obedience, agility and herding, along with lots of tricks and playing with a big red ball. Gem is also a therapy dog! I enjoy being a part of the Tender Care team and caring for your pet.

Hi, I'm Dr. Laura Johnson and I joined Tender Care in July 2008. I attended Colorado State University and graduated from vet school in 1983. I worked as a small animal veterinarian in La Crosse for 25 years before moving to Prairie du Chien. I am married to Neil Rettig and have one daughter, Kara. We have a cat, Charlie, as well as a number of birds on our farm outside of Prairie du Chien. I am a wildlife rehabilitator and Neil is a wildlife film-maker and falconer, so we usually have an array of interesting creatures at home. I enjoy soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, and challenging internal medicine cases. I also have a special interest and experience in avian medicine. I love witnessing the important role animals play in our lives, and look forward to helping keep your beloved pets happy and healthy.

Hi, I'm Rachel Mumm. I graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at MATC, Madison in May 2010. I started working here as a kennel assistant in June of 2005. I grew up in the country right outside of Lancaster. I now live in Lancaster with my husband. I have 2 cats I adopted from MATC, Corrina and Gibson. I enjoy activities such as: shooting archery, deer hunting, camping, horseback riding and spending time on the river.

Hello, my name is Nicki Updike. I received my degree from MATC in Madison, Wisconsin, in May 1996. I started at Tender Care in February 1998. I live in the country near Lancaster, with my husband Stan and 3 kids, Austin, Carli, and Camryn. My pet family consists of dogs, cats, and horses. Our hospital is the only premier small animal clinic in this area. Our team is willing to provide compassionate care to all clients and their pets who honor us with their pet needs.

Hi, I'm Dr. Jami Quick and I am the owner of Tender Care Animal Hospital. Being a veterinarian has been a life long dream of mine. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Following that, I attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison's School of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, I married Ken Quick who was originally from Prairie du Chien and worked in Eastern Wisconsin and in Viroqua before purchasing Tender Care. We now live in Prairie and we love this beautiful area. Our family consists of our children, Kyle and Kailee, our dogs Liberty, who was born July 4, 2008 and Slinky, who is our rescue dog. We also have three cats Pretzel, Biscuit and Peanut. It has always been my ambition to provide exceptional and compassionate care to animals. We have a wonderful, educated staff that will ensure the best care for your pet.

Hello, my name is Laken Polodna. I am a recent Veterinary Technician graduate from the MATC, Madison. I have lived on the outskirts of Prairie du Chien my whole life and have gotten to enjoy the countryside with my horse, Durango. I also have 2 dogs and a cat. My husky, Lakota, got her name from where I got her: South Dakota (Lakota indian tribe). I also have a shih tzu named Gizmo; that's just becuase he looks and acts like a gremlin :) . I adopted my cat, Moose O' Mally, from MATC Madison. His hobby is to lick your arm like it's a lolly pop while you're trying to accomplish other things.

Hi! I am Jessica Hein. I am a 2010 Veterinary Assistant graduate from Animal Behavior College. I grew up outside of McGregor in a small one road town called Giard. I have a 6 year old cat named Chupa, whom I bottle fed since he was just a week old. I also have a 1 year old Jack Russel I adopted named Povi. They definately know how to keep me entertained! I enjoy spending all the free time I have outdoors doing just about anything; from mushroom hunting and camping in the summer to snowmobiling in the winter. I have enjoyed my time here at Tender Care getting to know you and your pet and look forward to many more years!
